Michael D. Phillips has a passion for excellence in design and architecture. After seven years with Coldwell Banker selling apartments and townhouses in New York City, he relocated to Los Angeles in 2003, making the transition to representing the finest in Southern California architecture and historic homes. In association with David Mossler, he seeks to provide service of the highest possible caliber to a demanding, highly knowledgeable clientele and to showcase the best of Modernism and significant local design in every style to a global market.
At Teles Properties, Michael continues to enjoy his reputation for patience and dedication in assisting buyers, and his persistence in representing even the most challenging and idiosyncratic of properties on the sales side. Notable local sales include a home in Malibu designed by Frederick Fisher & Partners, a loft-like redesign by a young Italian architect, Nicolo Bini, of a home in the Palisades, a Buff & Hensman mid-century in the Hollywood Hills, and homes from Venice to Burbank. He has also closed some notable condominium sales and architectural leases. All his clients can expect rigorous analysis of the value of properties and marketing materials of rare distinction.
Before Real Estate, Michael worked in book publishing and as a paralegal (which persuaded him that a legal career was not for him, although he has occasionally been accused of unusual aptitude in the preparation of offers and counters). He graduated Princeton University more than a decade ago, receiving an AB in History with High Honors, focusing his independent work on the history of architecture, town planning and urban design in 18th and 19th century Europe. Cities have always fascinated him and his clients find him always current on the patterns of redevelopment and change in the modern metropolis.
